What to do if the TV won’t boot

Windows may need to be reinstalled

This option should be considered when you tried to revive Windows, but all attempts did not share results.

The very first thing that comes to mind for many, and for me too, is reinstalling Windows 7. But this method, you see, is very long, and if you are a busy person, then access to the computer should be almost constant. Reinstallation is suitable for those who have a lot of free time, or do not have time to figure out faster methods, or those who will not be helped by any of the methods I have listed below to restore the Windows operating system.

I will not dwell on the installation of Windows in detail, since I wrote about this on my blog:

I also recommend watching the video if you are installing Windows for the first time here.

Here is a quick guide: since you do not have access to the desktop, go to the BIOS, look for the Boot or Advanced BIOS Features tab, or search for yourself. Then already in it we find the line “1st Boot Device”, set the CD-ROM value. What have we done? And what we did is that now the computer will boot from the disk that is installed in your CDRom, and not from the hard disk when it boots. After switching on, when the inscription “Press any key” appears on a black background, press any button and get into the Windows installation wizard. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

You can read more about how to boot from disk in my article: “How to set boot priorities in BIOS”.

I decided to tell you about the installation at the very beginning, because if you were going to reinstall Windows, then perhaps this is some kind of sign to implement it))). But as I said at the very beginning, we will now try to bring your Windows back to life without reinstalling it.

System Restore

First of all, you can use the function that is in the installation disc “System Restore”. I will give an example of a Windows 7 system, but if you have a different system, then this is not a reason to think that you cannot do it on your system. The names of the buttons may differ, but the principle remains.

So, for this procedure, we need a Windows installation disc or its image (you can download it on the Internet). If you do not have the opportunity to download the image or do not have a disk, then write to me at useroffcom@gmail.com or contact your friends who have already installed Windows on their own.

If you do not have a working floppy drive or it does not exist at all, then the article “Creating an installation USB flash drive for Windows 7” will help in creating a bootable USB flash drive.

When you have a Windows distribution kit available, insert it into the drive and restart your computer. If the BIOS is configured for installation, then you will see the line:

When it appears, press any key.

In the event that it is not there or Windows boots as usual, then it is necessary to perform manipulations in the BIOS. Namely, set the priorities of the download. Usually, the hard drive is set in the BIOS settings, since it is on it that your Windows is installed.

In order for the computer to start booting from the disc that is in your floppy drive, you need to go into the BIOS and specify CDRom as the first device to boot. I already talked about this above, if you have not read this moment, then it’s time to do it.

So, you pressed any key, now a window will appear where you click “Next”.

In the next window you need to click “System Restore”.

This will search for installed systems. If you have one system installed, then, accordingly, there will be one operating system in the list. Select it and click “Next”.

Often at this stage, a message may appear in which you will be prompted to restore the system. If this message is displayed on your screen, then click “Fix and restart”. After that, try to log into your account.

If the message does not appear, then in the next window you select your system and click “Next”.

After that, a window will appear where you can choose how to restore the system.

Startup repair. automatic solution to the problem.

System Restore. you can use this method, but provided that this function has been enabled.

System image recovery. if you have a Windows image to recover.

Command Prompt. You can revive Windows with specific commands. Further, this method will be considered.

Now click “Startup Repair”. Now you need to wait a little for the utility to try to automatically find the problem and solve it.

System recovery via command line

So, if the above recommendations did not help, then now we will restore the system using the command line. To open this window, click “Command Prompt”.

Then enter Bootrec and press Enter.

A list of commands that can be used in this utility will appear, now you need to enter: Bootrec.exe / FixMbr and press Enter.

You can also try updating the boot code by entering the bootsect / NT60 SYS command. Then exit with the Exit command.

If the above commands did not help you, then go to the command line and enter Bootrec.exe / RebuildBcd. With this command you will scan your hard drive to find the systems installed on it.

When the scan is finished, a list of installed operating systems on your hard drive will appear. To add it to the boot list, press Y and Enter. After successful completion of the operation, type Exit and press Enter.

So, we figured it out with the command line. In principle, this should help to get your system to boot.

Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration

This is a must try! Restart the computer, press the F8 key continuously.

Attention! Entering Safe Mode is slightly different in Windows 8, so it’s best to follow the link below for all the details. In the list that appears, we are interested in the item called “Last Known Good Configuration (optional)”. Select and press Enter.

How to enter Safe Mode on different systems:

What to do if the information above did not help you? We repeat the actions described in the previous paragraph, but choose “Safe Mode”.

Then you can make a choice: fix the problem due to which Windows 7 does not boot manually, or try to do it in semi-automatic mode. Usually I do everything manually, for example, if Windows does not boot after installing the drivers, then I uninstall the drivers and try to boot. I think you understand that the manual method requires more knowledge from you, so Windows offers you another option, which I will describe below.

If everything boots, go to the Start menu, Control Panel, System and Security. In the “Support Center” tab, click on the words “Restore the previous state of the computer”. See the Start System Restore button? Great, so you’ve come to the right place.

Now click it and follow the instructions.

Next, you will need to select a restore point. In my case, I am asked to select a point on the 23rd, and now the calendar is on the 29th. Therefore, you need to click on “Search for affected programs” to find out what actions you will need to take after recovery.

So, you have familiarized yourself with the affected software during System Restore and now you can close this window. After closing the window, click “Next”.

If you were unable to enter Safe Mode to restore Windows, then don’t despair. Below we will analyze another method.

Note: at the very beginning, when Windows 7 was just coming out, there was one strange glitch, which you may have. When you turn on the computer, a welcome screen follows and a black screen appears. As I remember, there seemed to be an arrow, but nothing else was visible. The treatment is very simple. go into safe mode and restart your computer as usual. After that, I managed to log into my account without any additional manipulations with Windows.

Basic solutions when Windows refuses to boot

The topic that I want to discuss in this article is very popular and to tell about it in detail so that you understand how and what to do is not so simple. But still, I will try to describe possible ways of what to do if Windows 7 does not boot on a laptop or computer. We will also find out why this could happen ?! The task is not an easy one for us, namely, to correct the current situation, but there is no need to be afraid. Just follow the clear instructions and you will be fine! Some points may be suitable for other operating systems, but the emphasis will be on Windows 7.

Dear reader, if you really want to solve the problem, then I strongly recommend that you read the article completely, and then draw some conclusions. I cannot tell you about all the nuances in one paragraph.

Inactive hard disk partition

This situation is not common, but you still need to talk about it, otherwise the article can be said to be truncated. Let’s give an example, after which you will understand what’s what.

Let’s say you have several Windows operating systems installed on your computer, which are installed on different hard drives. If you assign incorrect attributes to hard disk partitions, then you will have problems loading a particular version of Windows.

To check or fix this, you can use the Acronis Disk Director boot disk to change the attributes of the partitions. So, download and burn the Acronis Disk Director boot disk and boot from it. How to do it? Insert the disc into the drive, restart the computer, and it will boot from the disc that is in the drive. But before that, check your boot priorities. There should be a CDRom, as in a Windows installation. We already talked about this in this article above.

Samsung TV Won’t Turn On- Simplest Trick to Fix

When the program loads, pay attention to the flags that are on the hard disk partitions.

In the image above, we can see that the checkboxes are on the second partitions of the hard drive. You need to make these checkboxes on the first sections. We got to practice;). You need to click on each first partition of the hard disk with the right mouse button and select “Mark as active”.

A message should appear where you click “OK”. This is what it looks like after the whole procedure:

Now it remains to click on the “Run” checkbox, wait for the operation to complete and restart the computer. Remember to remove the disc from the drive.

Hardware problems, BIOS and viruses

HDD. If your system unit, or rather the hard drive, makes suspicious sounds: clicks or tapping, then there is a chance that you need to replace the hard drive. To make sure of this, you need to open the lid of the system unit, turn on the computer and listen to the hard drive. Also check the hard drive wiring. It is possible that the wires are disconnected and the computer cannot see the hard drive.

If you suspect that there is a problem with the hard drive, then you need to copy all important data to another medium. Otherwise, you may lose them altogether.

BIOS. Go to BIOS settings and put the hard drive in the first place so that it starts booting from it. Above, we analyzed an example when we exposed a CDROM, and do the same with a hard disk. Just do not forget to save the changes in the BIOS by pressing the F10 key.

The second way. you will not believe it, but it really works! Just go into the BIOS and, without changing anything there, exit, saving the changes, which in fact were not there (by pressing the F10 button). I personally once fixed a laptop to friends, and when they asked me how I did it, my answer was: “Magic and nothing else “. So try it, all of a sudden it turns out to be much easier than you think.

Viruses. Sometimes viruses prevent Windows from booting. If there are viruses on your computer, then you need to check the entire disk for viruses. Here are the articles that will be useful to you: “Checking for viruses” and “Will the antivirus withstand the blow or lose concentration?”.

Of course, if you check your hard drive for viruses, then you will need to disconnect it and connect it to another computer, since in your case Windows will not boot. Or you can use special boot programs with which you can scan your computer for viruses even if you cannot boot your Windows. Here are a couple of them: Kaspersky Rescue and Dr.Web® LiveDisk.

Attention! There are cases when after installing updates Windows 7 stopped loading! Therefore, you can try to uninstall the recent updates that were installed before the Windows boot problem appeared.

Important! If you see a specific error on your screen, then I recommend using the search in Google or Yandex. You can enter into the search not only the error code, but also the words that are used in it. Thus, you will save your time searching for the problem and its solution.

Important! If the system unit emits squeaks when it is turned on, then it is necessary to determine the problem by this squeak. Ask how? Here is an article for you on this topic: “Why does the computer beep when turned on and what are BIOS signals”.

That’s all I wanted to say. The article turned out to be great, and I sincerely hope that at least one of the methods I have described helped you.

He says a lot, but there is some useful information for you:

Faults in the power supply

Power supply unit. provides energy conversion of the electrical network and its distribution to all elements of the device. This is the “heart” of the TV. There are two types of faults in the power supply. Some are associated with the development of a resource, others with the failure of individual components.

Almost all power supplies contain electrolytic capacitors, which eventually lose their capacity. As a result of this, the time for supplying power to the component parts of the device increases, and accordingly the switching process.

In addition to the natural aging process of the elements of the power supply, its components often fail due to voltage surges in the power supply network. This circumstance can lead to an extended turn-on time of the TV, and may also be accompanied by extraneous noise during operation and flickering of the image.

Malfunctions in the power supply unit over time can lead to failure of other elements of the device and its final breakdown.

IMPORTANT! If you notice a problem with the power supply, immediately contact the service center.

Cathode-ray tube resource

In CRT televisions, the image is projected onto the surface of a cathode ray tube, which has a limited lifespan. With long-term operation, the resource of the kinescope is developed, while it is noted:

  • reducing the brightness and saturation of the image;
  • uneven glow of the tube surface;
  • increase in the time of image appearance after switching on.

REFERENCE! The development of a resource in CRT TVs is not a malfunction. it is just an aging process. It usually occurs gradually over several years.

Currently, CRT models are obsolete. Therefore, when developing their resource, it is more rational not to try to repair them, but to take a closer look at modern models.

TV turns on for a long time: main reasons

As a rule, the process of turning on the TV takes no more than ten seconds. Over time, some users note an increase in turn-on time to a minute or more.

Even if the TV works fine after a long time, you should understand that something is wrong with your device. If possible, you should contact the service center to avoid more serious troubles. Modern television technology is a complex electronic system with a huge number of interconnected elements. For example, if one failed capacitor is not replaced in a timely manner, this can subsequently provoke the final failure of the entire device.

Experience shows that there are several main reasons why the TV turns on for a long time:

  • the resource of the cathode-ray tube is exhausted (only for CRT models);
  • malfunctions in the power supply;
  • failure of the inverter;
  • problems with the image scanning system.

Why does the TV turn on for a long time

Most of humanity spends their evenings in front of the TV. So you come home, turn on the TV as usual and notice that the image appears much longer than usual. Why is this happening? Is this a malfunction and what to do in this situation?

Failure of the inverter

The inverter is responsible for the operation of the backlight system in LCD TVs. It controls the brightness of the LEDs. If the inverter fails. the intensity of the screen luminescence is disturbed or the time for the appearance of the image after switching on increases (the sound may appear much earlier than the picture).

Scanning system problems

The image scanning system consists of line and frame scanning, and as the name implies, it is responsible for the direct construction of the image on the screen. Problems in the operation of these elements are also signaled by: instability of the image on the screen, the absence or incorrect display of pixels of some rows or columns.

What to do if the image does not appear immediately when you turn on the TV

If, when you turn on the TV, the image began to appear with a delay, this indicates minor malfunctions, which, if left untreated, may eventually lead to the failure of the device. The main advice. if you are not a repair specialist, do not try to fix the problem yourself, but contact a specialist.

Coolers can be heard, but the laptop screen is not working

So, you know what to do if your laptop won’t turn on. But there are also cases when it starts, but its screen remains dark. What to do in this case?

Take a close look at the monitor. Perhaps you still manage to consider something? If so, then the screen, most likely, is in order, but the backlight does not work. You can enable it using the hotkeys on the keyboard. Each model has its own and most users are well known.
2. Another way to check if the screen is working is to connect an external monitor to the laptop. If a picture appears on it, then there is no doubt and the cause of the malfunction is determined.
3. Often the problem is hidden in a discrete video card. This element sometimes overheats and breaks down. By the way, some video cards are prone to breakdowns more often than others. For example, nVidia graphics cards have a short lifespan.

To prevent such damage, do not hold the laptop on your lap or in any other position with the ventilation holes covered. It is advisable in such cases to use special stands that do not impede air circulation.

If your laptop is not a gaming laptop, then do not devote too much time to games on it. And one more thing. do not forget to monitor the temperature of the video card. If the reason is in it, then remove or simply turn it off. on some laptop models, switches are specially provided for this. With the missing discrete video card, your device will continue to work, you just have to temporarily say goodbye to some games.

Of course, the reason why the laptop boots up and won’t turn on can be more serious. For example, in some cases, the problem is with the processor or firmware, motherboard or memory. But you are unlikely to cope with such difficulties on your own.

The laptop is constantly rebooting or shutting down

If your device is constantly shutting down and rebooting, then it is most likely a serious hardware problem. Perhaps the fault is in the short circuit in the south bridge, which caused it to overheat. Or, dust has gotten into the cooler, which has caused excessive heating inside the processor. If so, the fan will run at high speeds, but it will still not cope with the problem. As a result, your laptop will periodically shut down and reboot. This will happen at a variety of times, regardless of external reasons. You are unlikely to be able to solve the problem yourself this time, so immediately contact the service center.

But before that, make sure it’s not a bad diet. If the laptop battery runs out, the device can turn on and then immediately shut down.

Turns on and freezes after the splash screen

Sometimes, for some reason, the laptop does not start in any way. And sometimes it still starts, you can see the initial splash screen and basic information about the device on the screen, and then the device freezes. Either nothing happens at all, or information appears about errors that interfere with the full operation of the machine.

  • Don’t be intimidated. The most common reason for this is the BIOS settings. You just need to enter the BIOS and reset all parameters. “Load BIOS Defaults”. After that save and exit.
  • Sometimes it happens that the laptop freezes, reports the detected error and asks to press a certain button. For example, “Press F1 to continue”. As a rule, after pressing it, it continues to turn on and then works as usual. And although such a solution to the problem is the simplest, you should not ignore the very fact of informing about the error. Most often this happens if the battery in the motherboard of the laptop starts to run out or the BIOS settings get lost. Please note that you need to contact the service center to replace the battery.
  • Of course, problems with a laptop can be more serious. For example, malfunctions associated with the operation of the hard disk manifest themselves in a similar way. In this case, there is a chance to determine the presence of problems by ear. If the hard drive is faulty, then you will hear the engine trying to start unsuccessfully under a slight crackling of the heads.
  • Another reason why the laptop won’t turn on is RAM. Some device models provide access to its brackets. You can try removing them and gently cleaning the contacts. If this does not help, then start the machine, leaving only one memory module at a time. In the event that your device has only one bar, then put it in another slot and start the device again. There is a great chance that these actions of yours will help solve the problem.

What to do if the laptop does not turn on: 6 main situations and ways out of them

No one is safe from laptop breakage. But the good news is that most of the problems that arise in the operation of this device can be solved. It is only necessary to determine the cause of the breakdown and its nature, and then act according to the situation. All laptop problems are either software or hardware. It is necessary to accurately diagnose the malfunction, and then you will already know exactly what steps to take to eliminate it.

So, why the laptop does not turn on and what to do?

A message is displayed about the inability to start from the boot device

As a rule, we are talking about a variety of messages in English. If you encounter something like this, remove all flash drives from the device, and remove the disk from the drive. Restart your laptop. If your actions have not brought any positive result, then the problem most likely lies in the work of the hard disk. Such a malfunction can be of both software and hardware nature.

In the first case, reinstall Windows. If after that your laptop began to work as before, then this means that the problem was software and now it has already been resolved. If reinstalling the operating system did not save the situation, then it’s time to contact the service department, whose employees will solve this malfunction at the hardware level.

The laptop does not turn on and shows no signs of life

The worst thing that an ordinary user of this device can imagine. What to do in this case?

  • Often, if the laptop does not start, then the problem lies in its power supply. Therefore, first of all, check if there is a light in the house and voltage in the outlet.
  • If there were no problems with electricity, you should proceed to inspect the power supply. Perhaps it began to work intermittently, or it broke completely. The surest way to be sure of this is to get the exact same power supply, only in working order. Connect it to your laptop and see if your device turns on.
  • Often the breakdown of the power supply is very trivial. broken wires or broken contacts in the connectors. By the way, in the future, one simple rule will help to avoid problems with the charger. When charging the laptop, first plug the plug into the device, and then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. The fact is that with a different connection order, a spark appears, which spoils the contacts.
  • If a similar power unit does not save the situation, then it is time to move on to more decisive actions. Remove the battery from your device, wait 10-15 minutes, and then turn on the device. If it turned on without problems, then secure it and put the battery in its original place.
  • Another reason why the laptop does not turn on, sometimes lies in the devices connected to it. Disable them all, including even the Wi-Fi adapter. Try to start the device again. If the laptop turns on, then return the external devices one by one to understand which one triggered the problem.

These are the steps you can take yourself when your laptop won’t boot. If none of them led to the desired results, then the problem should be looked for in a non-working motherboard, broken internal contacts and more. And only an experienced master will help with this.

After loading Windows shows the screen of death, errors on the black screen and reboots

Another fairly common problem is when, when you turn on the laptop, Windows starts to load, but then the boot is interrupted and the device restarts. The screen turns blue or black and displays numerous error messages.

As in the previous case, the problem can be of both software and hardware nature. And again, restarting Windows will help to understand what exactly happened to your device. Reinstallation of the operating system can be started from a bootable USB flash drive. If you succeed in doing this, then the problem can be considered solved. If not, then you can’t figure it out without the help of specialists from the service center.

Thus, if the laptop does not turn on, then this is not a reason to panic. In many situations, you can diagnose and fix the problem yourself. You just need to analyze your recent actions with this device. For example, if you spent many hours playing a game shortly before the breakdown, then your video card is most likely overheated. Try a little and you will be able to bring your device back to life again.

Incorrectly selected mode

If the TV does not turn on but the indicator is on, power problems can be ruled out. The problem may be with the wrong mode selected. Every modern LCD TV is equipped with a variety of modes:

  • Duty;
  • DVD;
  • Game console.

And many others. Read the instructions and study each mode carefully. It is possible that your TV is in standby (sleep) mode. It is quite easy to determine this. the screen goes out in this state, and the indicator lights up red or green.

Then check the rest of the modes. Some LCD models have a dedicated button that allows you to determine the current status. If you have selected the DVD player or game console mode, you will see only an extinguished screen and a lighted indicator. Check the jacks into which the plugs of the set-top box or player are inserted. if the mode is selected and the devices are not connected, the screen will automatically go out.

Technical problems

The source of trouble can also be hidden in the breakdown of the remote control (RC). Press the power button. if the indicator is blinking, then there is no doubt that the remote control is working properly. If the indicator does not blink and does not react at all, it is worth checking your remote control. It may be sufficient to simply replace the remote control batteries. If there is an identical remote control nearby, you can check that too. If the TV still does not turn on with the remote, try turning it on with the button on the dashboard.

The radiation of the LED installed in the remote control is outside the visible part of the spectrum, so the human eye does not see it. Nevertheless, anyone who uses a smartphone or mobile phone with a built-in camera can check the functionality of the remote control today. To make sure that the remote control is working properly, you need to look through the lens peephole at the photocell window and press any button on the remote control. the LED will start blinking.

Sometimes, in the event of a breakdown, the speaker emits characteristic sound signals. beeps, clicks, etc. If the speaker beeps when you press the remote control button, it means that the remote control is working properly, and the problem is different. Sometimes you can meet a modern LCD TV, which beeps when the mode is incorrectly selected and there is no connection with the player or set-top box.

If the image does not turn on even with the button on the dashboard, most likely the problems are inside the device. Modern LCD devices are distinguished by very complex technologies, and it is undesirable to try to fix them on your own. Listen. if something clicks deep in the case, it could be a built-in blocking module. Very often it is he who becomes the cause of all problems. This module always clicks when activated, and if you hear such a click, you will have to call a specialist.

In the case of old CRTs, the “root of evil” was usually hidden in the fuse, and if you had certain skills, you could replace it yourself. But modern LCD products are created using a completely different technology, therefore, in the absence of special knowledge and skills, you will have to contact the specialists of the service center. We are talking about a fairly expensive sample of household appliances, and it is not worth risking such a lot of money.

Connection problems

If you have purchased a new TV and it does not turn on from the first minutes of being in your home, you should not look for the source of the problem in the device itself. The likelihood of a defect is very low, as all reputable manufacturers carefully check all their equipment before sending it to distributors. Most likely, the matter is in a wrong connection, a malfunction of the remote control or an error in control.

Read the instructions carefully and try again. For example, the problem might be with the power button, which might be disabled. If the power indicator is on and does not blink, then everything is in order with the power supply. If the light shows no signs of life, the problem may be with the power button or wiring. Carefully examine the cord and outlet, you can also check the voltage with a screwdriver, which has a built-in indicator. If the light blinks intermittently, it is possible that the contacts are moving away. In some cases, the indicator blinks when the light bulb is out of order. you can temporarily ignore such a problem. If no problems are found and the TV still won’t turn on, the problem is different.

What to do if the TV won’t turn on

Since television became widely available for every family, it is difficult to name a more popular way of spending family leisure time (and even the Internet cannot change this). But what if the TV suddenly stopped turning on? The first and most important piece of advice is to not panic. If your brand new LCD TV or no less expensive plasma version for some reason does not turn on, this does not mean that you need to call specialists. Nowadays, there are different repair teams, and you can be sure that unscrupulous representatives of this profession will certainly take money from you, even if the equipment was absolutely serviceable.

The TV may be working properly and still not turn on due to a faulty remote control. What to do in this case can be found in the article: https://tehznatok.com/qa/pochemu-televizor-ne-rabotaet-ot-pulta.html

Therefore, you must first conduct an initial inspection on your own. Most malfunctions can be dealt with without special skills, using instructions from experienced people. It is possible that the problem lies in such trifles as an incorrectly selected mode, an accidentally pressed button, or problems with the electrical wiring. To begin with, it is worth clarifying that the approach to different types of TVs is slightly different. The most common are:

  • Liquid crystal (LCD);
  • Plasma;
  • CRT.

But since you do not need to carry out direct repairs to the equipment, the difference will be insignificant. And the tips you can use to fix your LCD TV are fine for other technologies as well.

Recommendations for those who know how to hold a soldering iron in their hands

Among the reasons why the TV stops turning on, employees of specialized service centers call breakdowns of almost all main blocks. pulse power supplies, photodetector modules, motherboards (Main Board or SSB) and backlight control inverters. They also note that the lion’s share of faults of this kind are due to faults in power supplies. For this reason, the first thing that needs to be done after the initial diagnostics (checking the voltage in the outlet, “ringing” the cord and replacing the mains fuse) is to examine the TV’s power supply unit according to the following scheme:

  • Conduct a visual inspection for microcracks, chips and cold soldering, and then correct the detected deficiencies.
  • Replace swollen capacitors identified during visual inspection.
  • If, as a result of the examination, burnt or damaged resistors were found, then it is necessary to carefully check the circuits in which they are installed. In the case when voltage dividers were built on these elements, the serviceability of the transistors, diodes and other semiconductor devices located next to them should be checked.

Most likely, fixing the breakdowns identified during the initial inspection will be enough for the TV to work again. If the miracle did not happen, then further diagnostics are carried out by inspecting the fuse. Its repeated burnout may indicate a breakdown of power transistors or rectifier bridge diodes. In addition, the semiconductors on which the PWM chip is strapped should be carefully checked. The microcircuit itself is checked by replacing it with a new or known good part.

The TV power supply is easy to detect. it is indicated by the presence of winding units (transformers, chokes) and high-capacity capacitors

Modern LCD and plasma TVs, in addition to the main power supply, also have an additional standby UPS. This module is constantly energized, since it powers the circuits responsible for turning on the device from the remote control. The output of the additional power supply unit must have a low-voltage voltage, which is necessary to power the IR receiver and maintain the processor in sleep mode. Often, after many years of operation, the capacitors of the network module dry up, lose their capacity, “go into a break”, or even begin to work in the diode mode. Of course, after the storage elements fail, the voltage conversion process becomes problematic, and starting the TV is impossible. Before proceeding with the search for replacement parts, it must be borne in mind that pulsed power supplies have a high-frequency mode of operation. Since capacitors filter high frequency pulses, parts with low series resistance (called ESR) should be selected. During operation, they will heat up less, which means that after repair the TV will last much longer.
