This effect is called angular resolution, that is, the number of pixels per angle of view. The further the distance from the user to the TV, the greater the angular resolution.

The limit to which you can increase the angle of resolution, moving away from the TV, depends on your visual acuity. at some point, your eyes will no longer see detail. Research shows that a person with a visual acuity of 1.0 (or 6/6 or 20/20) can distinguish pixels from each other at a ratio of 1/60. This means 60 pixels per degree, or 32 degrees for a 1080p TV.

Using this data, you can calculate the closest distance you can sit to your TV, while maintaining the maximum angular resolution, and this distance will be 1.6 times the diagonal of your TV. For example, a 55 “TV would have an ideal viewing distance of 88” (55 “x1.6) or 223.52 cm (88 x 2.54).

### How to read a diagram

Suppose you have a 50 ″ TV, so the graph starts at the bottom of the diagram at 50 ″. At a distance from 0 to 0.9 in Ultra HD resolution, you will see pixels (white box in the chart).
