    An RCA cable or “cinch” cable will help to separate the sound to the computer and TV on the most outdated equipment. It consists of two or three connectors that carry separate signals. The cable is connected to the corresponding jacks on the TV, then the “Video” mode is selected.

    HDMI connection

    This is the most common way to transfer sound from a computer to a TV. HDMI is a high definition multimedia interface, so the quality remains at its best when used. All modern TV models are equipped with a corresponding connector, some also include a cord. If not, it’s easy to purchase separately.

    So how to split audio between PC and TV via HDMI? To achieve the result, a simple manipulation is enough. connect the named devices with an HDMI cable.

    Usually this is enough, but if the TV is silent, you need to specify the TV as the sound source in the PC settings. In the section “Playback devices” (you can select it in the menu that appears when you click on the sound icon), select the desired one and then mark it as used by default.

    In the case when the HDMI connector is connected, and the TV does not appear in the list of available devices, the PC should be rebooted and re-configured.

    Also, problems are possible due to the fact that the computer’s video card does not support signal transmission via HDMI. This option is unlikely, because all modern models are equipped with this function. But if this is still the case, it is worth considering other options for how to divide the sound between a computer and a TV.

    Connecting with DVI

    DVI cable. connection option for cases when it is impossible to do it via HDMI. There are three types of connectors for this type:

    • analog;
    • digital;
    • combined

    If you need to transfer not only audio, but also a video signal, then you cannot just stretch the cable from the computer to the TV. In this case, use a DVI-HDMI cable, or you can take a DVI-D-HDMI type adapter, and then connect the HDMI-HDMI cable through it.

    This method is not very convenient for several reasons. Firstly, not every video card can provide audio signal playback via DVI-out. And secondly, it is not always possible to transfer an image using a DVI cable, so the process of connecting and setting up is complicated and not very convenient.

    VGA connection

    This method of splitting audio between a computer and a TV is now practically not used and is considered outdated. It is used only in those rare cases when another connection option is impossible.

    To connect via the VGA-out, you need an additional adapter and cable, since the VGA interface itself does not transmit an audio signal.

    Outputting sound to various audio devices

    There are two options for splitting audio. In the first case, we will receive a signal from one source and output it simultaneously to several audio devices. In the second. from different ones, for example, from a browser and a player, and each device will play its own content.

    We share the sound between the computer and the TV

    One sound source

    This method is suitable in cases where you need to listen to the current audio track on several devices at once. It can be any speakers, headphones, etc. connected to the computer. The recommendations will work even if different sound cards are used. internal and external. To implement our plan, we need a program called Virtual Audio Cable.

    It is recommended to install the software in the folder that the installer suggests, that is, it is better not to change the path. This will help to avoid mistakes in work.

    After installing the software, an additional audio device “Line 1” will appear in our system.

    Find the audiorepeater.exe file and run it.

    In the repeater window that opens, select “Line 1” as an input device.

    We assign the weekend the device from which it is planned to play sound, let it be the computer speakers.

    Next, we need to create another repeater in the same way as the first one, that is, run the audiorepeater.exe file again. Here we also select “Line 1” for the input signal, and for playback we define another device, for example, a TV or headphones.

    On the “Playback” tab, click on “Line 1” and make it the default device.

    We return to the repeaters and in each window press the “Start” button. We can now hear sound in different speakers at the same time.

    Different sound sources

    In this case, we will output the audio signal from two sources to different devices. For example, let’s take a browser with music and a player on which we’ll play a movie. VLC Media Player will act as a player.

    To perform this operation, we also need special software. Audio Router, which is a standard Windows volume mixer, but with advanced functionality.

    When loading, please note that the page contains two versions. for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

      Since the program does not require installation, we copy the files from the resulting archive into a folder prepared in advance.

    Run the Audio Router.exe file and see all the audio devices available in the system, as well as sound sources. Please note that in order for the source to appear in the interface, you must launch the appropriate program. player or browser.

    Then everything is extremely simple. Select, for example, a player and click on the icon with a triangle. We pass to the item “Route”.

    In the drop-down list, look for the necessary device (TV) and click OK.

    We do the same for the browser, but this time we select a different audio device.

    Thus, we will get the desired result. the sound from the VLC Media Player will be output to the TV, and the music from the browser will be broadcast to any other selected device. headphones or computer speakers. In order to return to the standard settings, just select “Default Audio Device” in the list. Do not forget that this procedure must be performed twice, that is, for both signal sources.

    “Wiring” sound to different devices is not such a difficult task if special programs help in this. If you often need to use for playback not only computer speakers, then you should think about how to “register” the software in question in your PC on an ongoing basis.
