The passive antenna does not have an amplifier based on transistors or microcircuits. Reception takes place by directing the antenna towards the TV tower. We connect the tuners to the TV according to the instructions. Next, we begin to deal with the antenna. If you have a passive antenna, skip step 2. You can also watch the YouTube video after reading this article.

The antenna is designed in such a way that the signal is amplified from one direction and attenuated from all others. The reception sector is usually 10-20 degrees, with very good antennas it may even be 5 degrees. That is, the stronger the antenna, the more accurately it must be directed to the TV signal source. If a powerful antenna is needed, it must be long. The correct maximum length for a passive antenna is approximately 1.3. 1.5 meters. There are antennas without an amplifier 2-2.5 meters long, but this is needed for reception from 80-100 km. And by the way, it’s not a fact that everything will work out. The active antenna has an amplifier. And the gain of the amplifier is added to the gain of the antenna. That is, if a passive antenna has a gain of 8 decibels, then an active antenna with an added amplifier of 20 decibels will have a total gain of 28 decibels. Channels are transmitted in packets divisible by 10. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully tune the antenna to the place of transmission. to the TV tower.

We insert the antenna plug into the input jack. But, I repeat, the active antenna must be powered. In modern antennas, 5 volt power is supplied to the television cable, to the central core. What needs to be done to supply power from the receiver to this very central core and where to get the 5 volt voltage?

Power is supplied through the central core of the cable. Like this.

Everything is very simple. The receiver (digital set-top box) will supply power to the antenna. This function is available in absolutely all DVB-T2 set-top boxes. Press the Menu button of the receiver, the Menu splash screen appears on the TV screen. You need to find the item “Antenna Power” and switch it from OFF to ON. It’s in one of the menu tabs. Scroll through them carefully, it is definitely in every tuner.

Next, we set up the tuner, for this we start the auto search.

ATTENTION. If you are leaving for installation outside the city, where the reception is unstable and sometimes it is not even clear where the digital TV transmitter is, you need to set up the DVB-T2 receiver in advance, before leaving. All 20 channels must be found in advance. This will save a lot of time, since tuning the tuner in the country with an unconfigured or unclear directional antenna is still a quest. If the TV is not tuned in the city, set it up with neighbors or friends (where all similar technology works great), then you will understand. the TV does not receive or the antenna is junk.

We make sure that the TV receives and shows everything well.

In order for the antenna to receive the signal better, it must be directed towards the TV tower. The power level and quality of the signal from the antenna must be monitored. To do this, on the remote we find the Info button (INFO). Press it once, second time, third time.

Two lines should appear. “Signal strength” and “Signal quality”. Turning the antenna, moving it, you need to achieve the maximum value of these numbers. Turn. wait 5 seconds. Then you turn. see how the numbers have changed. This is how the antenna is tuned in the direction. The multiplex capacity data can be found by pressing the INFO button. For example, check the power of the first multiplex on the first channel, the second. on channel 11.

Indoor TV Antenna, HDTV Digital Antenna, 50 Miles Range with Amplifier unboxing and instructions

If the parameters are less than 40-50%, you need to look for a better receiving place, put the antenna higher, buy a more powerful antenna. In our case, everything is pretty decent. and signal intensity and quality 90% or more.

But what if instead of 20 free channels, only 10 channels are shown? That is, not both multiplexes, but only one of them. And the same thing. it is necessary to look for a better receiving place, put the antenna higher, buy a more powerful antenna. The fact is that the channels are transmitted in packets divisible by 10. each transmitter transmits 10 channels. The power of the transmitters is usually different. and if the antenna is pointed slightly out of the way, then only one more powerful multiplex (10 channels) is received. Channels are transmitted in packets in multiples of 10. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully tune the antenna (and place the antenna higher, for example, an indoor one on a cabinet) at the place of transmission. to the TV tower. Both multiplexes are transmitted from the same source. TV transmitter. Therefore, if you have received only 10 channels, select some channel by pressing the “INFO” button on the remote control, display data on the level and quality of the signal. Next, you achieve the maximum values of the Level and Quality of the signal. than 60% is desirable. Next, start the search for channels in the tuner or TV menu. And most likely, Search will also find the second multiplex.

And what to do if not 20 channels are shown, but 18, but digital and not analog? What happened? And the following happened. outdated software. In this case, you need to update the software of the tuner or TV. This is usually easy to do. But about that. next time.

Previously, there was at best only one TV transmitter for the entire district. Now the number of stations broadcasting free digital TV has increased hundreds of times. And if earlier it was 80 km from you to the transmitter, now it is most likely much less. Again. There are many transmitters of the number, do not believe your neighbor, who will say that he is the only one. You can check it on the website MAP OF DIGITAL TV RUSSIA. Find your location on this map.

There is also such a nuance. in St. Petersburg, multiplexes are transmitted at 586 MHz and 666 MHz. These are pretty close frequencies. If the antenna receives one frequency (multiplex), then, most likely, it also receives the second multiplex. However, there are also difficult situations, as in Yaroslavl. 474 MHz and 762 MHz. These free TV frequencies vary greatly. Therefore, the requirements for the antenna in Yaroslavl are higher. it should have a wider and more uniform characteristic. Transferring to money. cost more. Otherwise, only one multiplex will be received. Let me remind you that the data on the power of the multiplex can be found by pressing the INFO button. For example, check the power of the first multiplex on the first channel, the second. on channel 11.

The rest of the frequently asked questions are highlighted in the Video (see below).

Everything is clear about the receiver for receiving digital TV. How to turn on the power to the antenna on the TV? If it is a modern Smart TV? But in no way! Unfortunately, there is no such function in Digital TVs! Neither LG, nor Samsung, nor JVC, nor Sony! On no TVs!

Don’t ask me why. that’s not done!

Therefore, the question of how to supply power to an active antenna in modern TVs is very important to understand.

Therefore, a special device was invented to power active antennas, which for some reason is called not a power supply, but a power injector.

The main idea of the developers was that the antenna should be powered from the USB connector of a modern TV, this is done like this:

The injector has three connectors. USB, TV male, TV female.

We plug USB into the USB of the TV, TV dad. into the TV socket of the TV, TV mom. to the antenna!

Give me! And in half of modern TVs, power is not supplied to the USB connector! precisely, it is served, but only if you insert a USB flash drive into it and select Watch a movie or Play music from USB in the TV menu. And our task is completely different, we want to watch 20 free DVB-T2 channels from the air, and not recordings from a flash drive.

What to do? It’s simple! You must use a mobile phone charger. For example, this one. We do not plug the USB injector into the TV, but into the power supply.

Voila! The LED lit up, we connected the antenna correctly.

And one more thing: On sale there are antennas with a built-in USB injector directly into the antenna.

However, the length of the USB cable and antenna cable for such antennas is usually very small, 50 centimeters, so such antennas are convenient to use only in the area of reliable reception, because if the antenna needs to be carried three meters from the TV, now you will need two extension cords. You will have to buy both an antenna extension cable and a USB extension cable.

So, to the question “which TV set-top box supplies power to the antenna” is the answer. any!

So, to the question “which TV can supply power to the antenna” is the answer. little what!

Conclusion: if there is no digital set-top box, but there is a modern TV with DVB-T2. use the injector and charger from the phone to connect the active antenna.

The 5 volt power injector Triada-311 / for supplying power to an active TV antenna differs from other injectors by the presence of LED connection indication. This is very convenient, because in half of modern TVs, power is not supplied to the USB connector! precisely, it is served, but only if you insert a USB flash drive into it and select Watch a movie or Play music from USB in the TV menu. And our task is completely different, we want to watch 20 free DVB-T2 channels from the air, and not recordings from a flash drive. Therefore, by plugging an injector from another manufacturer into the TV’s USB, the user does not know whether the antenna is powered or not. The presence of an LED indicator in the Triada-311 / injector makes it very convenient to use.

Thus, it is best to supply power to an active TV antenna from a modern digital Smart-TV using a TV USB injector (5 Volts).

To consolidate the information received, we recommend that you also watch our video on this topic.

The video shows the setup using the example of the Room digital TV antenna Triad 3310. which has no analogues in terms of receiving properties (overload and range),
possesses outstanding reception properties. works on direct, reflected and re-reflected signals. Correct connection is indicated by an LED. How to choose and configure an antenna DVB-T / T2.
With built-in amplifier. It is used in a situation when the direction to the transmitting center is not known very accurately or it is not possible to direct the antenna to the TV tower. Works on direct, reflected and re-reflected signal in urban and near suburb conditions.

This Antenna-amplifier is slightly larger than a conventional antenna and several times more efficient, designed to receive digital TV signals DVB-T and DVB-T2, as well as analog TV in the UHF range of 470-850 MHz. The antenna provides reliable reception of a TV signal in the area of reliable reception (usually at a distance of up to 20-25 km from the TV transmitter, the range depends on the signal strength, the height of the receiving antenna, the terrain, the presence of obstacles between the broadcasting station and the receiving antenna). The antenna is stable and not prone to tip over due to the weighting in the base.

That’s all for today. Expert Stanislav Boush was with you.

In the next article I will tell you where to point the antenna to receive 20 channels of free digital television. how to actually find out where to turn the digital antenna, where the digital TV transmitter is located and about the digital reception card. location and coverage of the digital signal in Russia.

Channel setting: automatic, manual

General scheme for searching TV programs for receivers:

  • On the console from the console find the “Menu” button, most often it is the Sourc key
  • In the window that opens, press HDMI 1. digital broadcasting will go through it.
  • Find “Autosearch” and click start. The set-top box itself will select the appropriate frequency and save TV programs.

The exact sequence of searching for TV channels depends on the selected model of the receiver or the cellular operator to which you connected to watch digital TV.

How to find out the model and year of production of a TV

Setting up digital channels on Samsung begins with specifying the year of release and the TV model. You can do this in 2 ways: go to the TV menu or look at the label on the back panel.

  • Through the TV menu. Find the “Menu” button on the remote control. Select “Support”. Then, “contact Samsung.” A screen will open with the item “model code“.
  • On the device label. The information is written in the form of a code, where each letter has its own meaning, for example, UE32F6800. The information is deciphered as follows:
  • UE. TV type: UE / LE. liquid crystal, PS / PE. plasma.
  • 32. diagonal, varies from 19 to 105 inches.
  • F. year of manufacture, its classification: A. 2008, B. 09, C. 10, D. 11, ES / EH. 12, F / FH. 13, H / HU. 14, J / JU / JS. 15, K / KU / KS. 16, M / MU / Q / LS. 17, N / NU. 2018, S. premium variants of different years.
  • 6800. digital designation of TV modification.

When the model is determined, check if it supports digital signal reception without a special attachment.

How to determine the presence of a tuner

Without an additional set-top box, you can set up a TV with a built-in or external tuner to receive a DVB-T2 signal. The module easily decodes 20 basic channels, which are transferred to digital broadcasting.

You can check if there is such equipment in your TV model on the official Samsung website or in the passport for the TV. On the manufacturer’s resource, it is enough to find the column “technical characteristics”, go to the “Broadcasting system” or “Tuners”, enter the model data and see if there is a plus in the DVB-T2 column or not. If available, digital TV is available.

For reference. You can set up digital TV on Samsung TVs without a set-top box in most versions of QE,UE, HG, GO. Smart models receive signals over the Internet.

During 2019, the broadcasting of analogue channels was turned off in Russia. A smooth transition in different regions was given from 1 to 3 months. New TVs did not need to purchase set-top boxes, the old ones needed additional equipment. But, despite the duration and smoothness of the transition, not all users have learned how to tune digital channels on Samsung TVs.

Manual for models with a DVB-T2 tuner

Digital broadcasting on modern TVs that receive signals without a set-top box must be configured through the menu. It is better to run auto-tuning, which will automatically read all available TV programs and save them under numbers. If you choose the “manual” option, you will have to tune each channel for a long time.

Instructions for tuning digital channels on Samsung TVs with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner in automatic mode:

  • Go to the TV menu. Looking for the section “Broadcasts”.
  • Open the item “Auto-tuning”.
  • Indicate the signal source: antenna, cable, satellite.
  • Determine the type of channels. choose digital broadcasting.
  • Click on the “Search” button and select the “Full” option and “Scan”.
  • You are waiting for the configuration to complete. Find “Save” and enjoy digital.

There are situations when automatic tuning does not work, then you have to search and save channels manually.

How to connect and configure the set-top box

Before setting up digital television on Samsung TVs through a set-top box, you need to assemble and connect the equipment. To do this, do:

  • Check the antenna installation, which should be matched with the attachment. Installation and adjustment instructions are included with the equipment. Cellular operators offer cable connection through a common wire in the entrance.
  • Select and purchase a suitable receiver. It is selected by the number of additional options. There are options with the ability to record information, media player function, scheduler, TimeShift.
  • Look at the option of connecting the receiver to TV: tulips, HDMI, antenna cable. Get an adapter.
  • Connect the equipment and turn it on. Adjust the 20 basic channels available for free viewing.

If you want to watch more channels, you will have to buy a special CAM module for the receiver with an antenna. Then the number of TV shows will depend on the selected package.

Samsung TV varieties

Samsung has been making home appliances since 1930. In 1998, the company introduced the world’s largest LCD TV, measuring 30 inches. Modern models can be divided into 3 options:

  • Models with built-in tuner for DVB-T digital reception
  • External device options.
  • TVs that do not support digital signal need a set-top box.

The digital channels themselves are broadcast via the Internet for Smart TV or via IPTV. Before setting up the equipment, you need to find out if the TV supports DVB-T2, and specify the year of manufacture and model.

Why Philips TV can’t find digital channels: reasons how to fix?

There can be many reasons why Philips TV does not find digital channels. From the technical features of the device to the failure of the broadcast. The most common among them, as well as ways to eliminate them, are presented below.

Why won’t digital channels be tuned in on Philips TVs

Philips TV does not look for digital channels if it was released a long time ago. The same situation can be observed with incorrect or unfulfilled settings. Another reason. there is no signal from the provider.

If the device belongs to old models and shows only analog channels, then the solution to the issue is possible in two ways:

  • purchase of a new model of a DVB receiver for household appliances;
  • installation of an additional set-top box, which is also called a receiver or decoder.
  • convenient interface language;
  • the country where the equipment is used;
  • current time and time zone.

Wrong selection of one of the items during adjustment leads to discomfort during use and failure in operation.

During the configuration process, you also need to specify:

  • place of installation “Home” or “Showcase”. when the first option is activated, the user gets more functionality;
  • installation method. stand or wall-mounted, which determines how the image is displayed on the screen.

What to do if your Philips TV is not looking for digital channels

During initial or secondary setup, the TV may not find digital sources. To resolve this issue, you need to follow the instructions.

If you have any questions or complaints. let us know

Installing an HDTV antenna for “Free TV”

  • You need to start by diagnosing the incoming digital signal quality. To do this, in the main menu, select the “Status” item and set at least 80%.
  • Analyze the network ID and its frequency. The initial data is obtained from the provider or from the relevant information sites. For example, “”.
  • In the “Channel settings” menu, click in the “Digital signal” section to switch the button to the “Enabled” status.
  • Change the scanning principle in the “Frequency scan step” section from any other to 1 MHz.

If, after all this, the TV still does not pick up the signal, it is recommended to reset to factory settings and a new search through the antenna. To do this, it is enough to follow these steps:

  • disconnect from the TV all cables, wires, etc., except for the network;
  • start “Search” after deactivation of the CAM module;
  • as soon as the process of determining the channels is completed, you need to disconnect the device from the network;
  • connect all cords to the appropriate connectors;
  • re-run the search procedure manually or automatically.

In a situation where this method did not give a positive effect, broadcasting is not configured, you should contact the technical support service.

It often happens that the TV finds less than 20 channels. To get rid of this trouble is simple:

  • re-configure;
  • change the position of the antenna;
  • make sure that the repeater is in good working order;
  • try to orient the antenna to another repeater.

If the device cannot find channels on the third multiplex, it is necessary to first clarify whether the region is broadcasting on this frequency. If so, it is enough to carry out the standard presetting. After these manipulations, you can start watching your favorite programs.

Adding local analogue TV channels

Although in Russia broadcasting of federal channels is being transferred to digital, analogue television is still preserved: local programs are broadcast on it. If you want to watch them, proceed as follows:

  • Go to the menu and go to “Settings”.
  • Select analog configuration (ATV).
  • Go to the item “Channel search”.
  • After the end of the procedure, guard the received analog channels.

Deleting and sorting channels

If for some reason you do not want to watch one or several found channels, you can delete them from the list. This is done as follows:

  • Open the menu.
  • Select “Settings”, then “Digital Configuration”.
  • Go to “Remove Programs”.
  • Find an unwanted channel in the list.
  • Hold down the central button on the remote control (“Select”, “OK”). The channel is removed.

In the event that you need to sort the order of the channels, the procedure looks like this:

  • Open the menu.
  • Select “Settings” and “Digital Configuration”.
  • In the menu that opens, go to the item “Sort programs”.
  • Enter the channel number to be changed and press the Select key. The program will stand out.
  • Use the “Up” and “Down” keys to move the channel to the desired position.
  • The procedure is repeated for all channels to be sorted.

No signal

If no channel is showing, you need to take the following steps:

If none of these steps gave a result, you need to seek help from the masters. This is most likely a malfunction of the TV.

Other possible problems and solutions:

digital, antenna

The channels were shown, but then they stopped

Sometimes it happens that digital channels that were only recently received suddenly disappear. What to do in this case?

But most likely the reason for the disappearance is the TV settings (for example, due to a power surge). In this case, it is recommended to use two methods:

  • rescan the range (in manual or automatic mode). It is possible that channels will be found;
  • full reset to factory settings (how to do this on a specific digital TV model, you can find out from the instruction manual). After that, you need to re-configure the TV receiver, including searching for channels.

Setting up digital channels yourself on a Sony TV

Digital television allows the viewer to watch programs and films in a quality that is not available for the analog version. However, in order to take full advantage of the “number”, you must first follow a series of simple steps. Let’s see how to set up a Sony TV to receive digital TV.

How to determine your TV model

Over the years, Sony has released a huge number of TVs of different models. Not all of them support digital reproduction, and among those that can do this, not all work with the European broadcasting standard DVB-T2. And first you need to define the model.

Adding local analogue TV channels

Analogue channels, which can be broadcast from local TV stations, are added at the autosearch stage, if the “Digital and Analogue” item was selected. If this has not been done, they can be added later in manual mode.

To do this, you need to do the following:

  • Activate the menu.
  • Select setting mode.
  • Specify antenna as signal source.
  • Select analogue channels (ATV).
  • Perform manual configuration while saving the found ones. The procedure is the same as for digital channels.

Manual setting

If the auto search results did not suit you for some reason, you can conduct a manual search.

  • Press the “TV Setup” button and select “Preset”.
  • Select manual method (“Search”).
  • Using buttons “3” and “4” (or increasing and decreasing the volume. depending on the model), the digital tuner “chases” up and down the range.
  • The opened channels must be saved manually by pressing the “Enter” button.
  • After that, using the buttons for increasing and decreasing the number, you need to go to the next one and repeat the setting.
  • After completing the configuration, you need to exit the menu. The channels will be stored in the TV’s memory.

In the second version of the interface, the procedure will be slightly different:

  • After going to the menu and activating the “Settings” item, you will have to select not “Autosearch”, but “Manual DTV search”;
  • Here you will need to specify the frequencies and other broadcast parameters. For cable and satellite, information is taken from the provider, for over-the-air. according to the instructions for searching for frequencies of DTV. The received data must be entered.
  • The cursor buttons change the search range. The found channels are saved with the confirmation button.

Check if your Supra TV supports digital TV

First, make sure your model has the correct tuner. Not everyone can receive digital television, and among those who have such an opportunity, not all support the European standard of the second generation DVB-T2, used in Russia.

There are two ways to check a specific brand:

  • Look for information on the net on the websites of official dealers. Not the most reliable option: sellers, even those who work with Supra directly, often confuse the models.
  • Insert the model number of your TV into the search line. If you find it, the ethereal “number” is almost in your hands.

Auto search for digital channels on Supra

The easiest way to set up your Supra is in Auto mode. To do this, connect the antenna, check the signal strength and follow the instructions:

  • Press the “TV Setup” button on the remote control. The setup menu will open.
  • Select the “Preset” item and activate it.
  • Several lines will appear, of which you must select “Auto search”.
  • Auto tuning starts. It will run from the lowest frequencies available to the model and gradually increase. The search takes about 5-10 minutes.
  • At the end of the process, all channels will be saved. You can start viewing.

Setting up a Supra TV with a different interface would look like this:

  • Press the “Menu” button on the remote control.
  • In the menu that opens, select “Settings”.
  • Indicate the country (Russia) and the signal source (for terrestrial TV. “antenna”; for cable. the next line). When setting up the reception of cable or satellite TV, you will need to specify the technical parameters of the broadcast. You can find them on the website of your provider or by calling the support.
  • After the choice is made, you need to find the item “Autosearch” and indicate which channels will be searched for. Check the box “Digital and Analogue”.
  • At the end of the list, select the “Search” item and activate it. The TV will start the setup procedure.

Important: If the item “Digital and analog” is selected, later you will not have to additionally search for local broadcasting channels. However, if the antenna receives only UHF on which digital TV broadcasts, you should select the “Digital” item.

Deleting and sorting channels

If duplication has occurred (for example, the antenna accidentally caught a signal from two repeaters broadcasting at different frequencies at once) or some of the channels turned out to be unnecessary, they can be deleted.

  • Activate the menu with the remote control.
  • Select setup mode.
  • Specify the item “Channels”, “Channel Management” or similar (the exact name depends on the interface).
  • Select “Edit”. Here, each specific one can be erased or renamed.
  • Select the unnecessary TV channel and the item “Delete”.
  • Confirm Action.

In addition to editing, most models also have the ability to sort channels by assigning an arbitrary number to each individual program. This is done in a similar way through the “Editing” tab, only you need to select the “Sort” item. After that, moving from one to another, you can assign them new numbers, under which they will be displayed on the screen.

Self-tuning digital channels on your SUPRA TV

The Supra line includes more than 10,000 items of various household appliances. Even if we take only TVs. there are at least a hundred of them, including discontinued but still on sale models. Often, even the owners of modern receivers do not know how to correctly capture all available transmissions. Let’s figure out how to set up digital channels on a Supra TV.

If your TV does not support digital

What to do if, according to the results of the check, it turned out that a particular Supra TV cannot receive DVB-T2 itself?

  • Purchase a new TV. This is a radical, but preferable method, since even relatively new TV receivers that are not geared towards digital broadcasting often do not support all the capabilities of DTV (high definition, teletext, etc.);
  • Install a digital set-top box (it is a receiver, decoder or external tuner). To watch 2 federal multiplexes for 20 channels, this will be enough.

Instead of a conclusion

You can convert your Supra TV to digital broadcasting in much the same way as other models. The differences will only be in the details of the interface, depending on the year of manufacture and whether a particular model has been adapted for Russia. The setup itself is very simple and will take you no more than 15-20 minutes, even in manual mode.
