By the way, DisplayMate tests showed that the brightness of the iPhone 11 screen may be even higher than stated, but more on that in the next section.
If we compare the results with the iPhone XS and XS Max, we can see that Apple’s 2019 screens are much brighter. For last year’s models, the maximum brightness was 660 and 653 nits, respectively. Considering that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 automatically produces a maximum brightness of 794 nits (that is, this is its ceiling), we can state that the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have the brightest screen to date.
The maximum contrast in the screens of new Apple products is 2,000,000: 1. That’s 2x higher than last year’s XS or XS Max (1,000,000: 1). With such a high contrast ratio that overlaps the dynamic range needed to support HDR10, the Super Retina XDR name for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max is a great fit.
